Are their actually any Kangaroo's at Kangaroo Island? The answer is a resounding YES. Home to just over 4500 residents, Kangaroo Island is Australia's 3rd Largest Island. Located about
112km south west of Adelaide in South Australia, it is known as Australia's premier wildlife destination. Untouched by foxes, dingos and rabbits, the native Australian animals have been able to escape and thrive in substantial populations. Up to one third of the Island is declared Conservation or National Park. There is no public transport or taxi services on the Island so car rental on Kangaroo Island is the best way to get around.

Getting To Kangaroo Island

Getting to Kangaroo Island is very simple with multiple ferry departures leaving daily from Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia. The Island cannot be reached by car.

By Ferry

The Kangaroo Island SeaLink has 4 departures daily from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw with additional services operating during peak periods. Travel Time is approximately 45 minutes advance bookings required. Island connections include Kingscote, and American River. Buses run from Adelaide and Goolwa to Cape Jervis to connect with the passenger ferry.

By Air

Accommodation

There is a limited amount of Accommodation at KI, however there is a wide range of 3 and 4 star properties. Bed & Breakfasts are a popular choice as are Backpacker, Caravan Parks, Motels, and Villas. Accommodation should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.
